Hey Ribbons! I know it’s been a while, but I’ve been quite busy and as you know, I prefer to bring you interesting content. I have been posting on my instagram a lot lately though, so if you ever miss me, feel free to follow me there.

I briefly touched on the title of this post here, but I’d like to expand on it. I am the type of girl who tends to feel like she could be doing more, achieving more and just generally should be in a ‘better’ place with regards to her career etc. This has always been something I’ve had to deal with personally and it would sometimes get me down and a bit deflated. I spoke to my brothers about it and simply put, they made me realise how far I’ve come. After they mentioned a few of my achievements, I stopped to think and I realised that they were actually right.

As individuals who want to ‘do it all’, we need to get into the habit of pause and reflect. Taking the time to pause and reflect on how far we’ve come and how much we’re actually achieving (that we may not even realise we’re achieving), is very important. Especially in this millennial age, where comparison is at an all time high and everyone seems to be in competition with one another. (Not healthy, but we’ll discuss this topic another day).

I urge you all to pause and reflect. Count your blessings and keep taking steps everyday to grow and get to know you properly. Stop looking at what’s left to be done and be thankful of what has been done. All in all, strive to be better than you were yesterday and give yourself some credit, because you’ve come pretty further than you think.

P.S Please let me know what other things you would like to see on my blog. I’d love to know what you enjoy reading/hearing about e.t.c

Whenever you commit yourself to something you love, you have to go after it with all your heart. Speaking from experience, it has been tough to do this but a couple months back I made a promise to myself to wholeheartedly go after things that made me smile, made me happy and just brought peace to my life. In doing that, the bad things and toxic people leave you. They leave you because when you’re beginning to live your best life, you have no time to worry about what others think about you or how they perceive you; you just live for your own fulfilment.

1.) Be Brave

It takes bravery to follow your dreams, and those who achieve greatness are the people willing to be scared but not scared off. You have to be willing to take calculated risks.

2.) Be Respectful

Your success is entirely based on your reputation, so you have to be kind to others, be aware and respect the people around you. Never forget to speak your mind, but be careful to think before you speak.

3.) Be Yourself

This is something I strongly believe. You really don’t have to sacrifice your personality, beliefs or lose who you are to achieve success in life. Just stay true to your core values and focus on your goals and you will accomplish the things you want.

4.) Believe In Yourself

Now this is incredibly important. Belief in oneself is like none other, because when no one believes in you, you only have yourself.

There are times when I’ve been broke, down and out and just at my wits end, but then I think of why I started doing what I’m doing and I snap out of all the ‘sadness’. My belief in myself is paramount to anything. If not me, who? If not now, when?

5.)Look after yourself

I’ve never been an unhealthy person but I also never exercised (apart from playing sports in school). So in August 2016, I began going to the gym in order to keep fit, tone up and get my heart rate up. When all is said and done, the only way that you’ll truly ever live your best life, and get the most out of every day, is if you take care of yourself. “Good health is the key to happiness, and happiness is the key to success.”

And in the great words of Kanye West, let up the suicide doors, this is my life home you decide yours.

So we all have those moments when life gets ahead of us and when we may not know where exactly we’re headed. Well, there’s this blog that I read frequently and you may have heard of her, but if you haven’t she goes buy Zanita Whittington. I thought my platform was super positive until I began reading hers, so that’s why I’d like to share some links that personally helped me as a growing fashion and lifestyle blogger.
I hope it helps you as well! Please leave a comment if so and also let me know what you want to hear/see more of on my blog.

Have a lovely week Ribbons! Xx

  • Do you ever feel like you’re putting your ‘all’ into your blog, but not seeing results? Well this post on ‘the secret to growing your following’ will definitely help you.

  • So, I know that I personally struggle with goal setting, because they tend to seem so far away and almost impossible (because my goals and dreams are rather big, lol) but after reading this post on ‘the best approach to setting goals and achieving them’ definitely gave me a positive outlook.

  • So this post is directed at my fellow blogger girls. The harsh truth that we all need to hear, but not a discouraging one still. ‘Why only 4% of bloggers make it’. As I mentioned, this is not to discourage you all, but to keep you abreast with the harsh reality that comes with blogging. Fashion blogging, to be exact.

  • Have you ever been in a difficult situation and just had no idea where to go next? Confused about the how’s, the why’s and the when’s? Well this post on ‘how to make smart choices in difficult situations’ will definitely be helpful to you.
Hope you’re all having a great start to the week and if you'd love to learn A LOT more on life and entrepreneurship, head over to Zanita Studio! xx

Hey Ribbons! So I know it’s been a while, but I’m here now with a lovely collaboration that I believe you will all love. Before I get into those details, I just want you to know why I’ve been a bit MIA. I have been working very hard on my womenswear line that will be revealed to you all in the New Year. There is still a lot left to do with regards to manufacturing and fabrics, but I must say it is coming together very well. I prefer to take my time on these things, which is why I haven’t really had much time for blogging.

You know me, whenever I blog, I prefer to bring you guys something substantial. Needless to say, words of substance take time, which I don’t seem to have too much of these days. If you would like to keep up with my design process, then follow me at @nengiwilliepepple on instagram. So the lovely jewellery brand motif.me contacted me with regards to a small collaboration and once I saw their pieces, and because I absolutely love jewellery and especially stacking rings and bracelets (and more recently, layering necklaces too), I was ready to sign on the dotted line.

Christmas is around the corner and what better way to surprise your mum, sister, girlfriend, niece, aunt and any other special lady in your life than to get her something delicate and tasteful. Well now you can, if you head over to (motif website), you can now get $20 off your first order by entering my promo code ‘runwayribbons’ at the check out. For my non US readers, fear not, they offer frees shipping, so all you will be paying for is your newly discounted piece(s) of jewellery. I wouldn’t promote something that I genuinely didn’t love, so you can rest assured that these pieces

LIFE IS FULL OF CHOICES
17th September 2016 10

Life is full of choices, and I choose Nengi.

(Bit corny, but hear me out.)

Some of us go through life tip toeing around things, overthinking, overanalysing and generally worrying about things that are out of our control. Where exactly does that get us? Simple answer, nowhere.

Life is honestly too short to stress over a myriad of things. I do worry about life from time to time and my mum always tells me to stop it. She has this ability to be resilient when faced with adversity. In her words, ‘Everything will be fine, trust me.’ Once I hear her say ‘trust me’, I honestly feel calmer. You should see her when she says it as well, it’ truly calming. But I digress.

I choose me in all things. I always tell my friends ‘look out for number one’. ‘Number one’, being you. This is not to say be selfish, but as long as you’re not breaking any laws or hurting anyone, then you should most definitely do what makes you happy. Stop worrying about he said/she said, fair weather friends, non-supporters and hateful people. Stop overthinking every little situation, stop overanalysing parts of your life story and just embrace it and work with it. I say this not because I am perfect in all of this, but I have been practicing what I preach for quite sometime now and it has done me nothing but favours.

Do you, because everything else is secondary.

Wearing shorts in London is something I never do. Come to think of it, I don’t think I’ve ever worn shorts in this city. Yes, even in the summer. If you know anything about London, you’ll know that it’s a city that blows hot and cold (quite literally). Our weather fluctuates like nothing you’ve ever seen before and almost everyone carries an umbrella ‘just in case’ of rain. So you can imagine that when I was putting this outfit together it felt a little strange to me. I actually felt like a tourist in my own city, because wearing shorts feels too reminiscent of a holiday, which it is far from.

As seen in my Miami vlog, I wore shorts with confidence, because I was in that environment, but when I’m in my own city, it just feels weird. This beautiful Forever 21 top goes so well with shorts though, so I decided to style them together regardless of what I think/feel about me wearing shorts in London. I am such a big fan of clothes with dramatic elements to them, so this crop top was right up my street. The sheer finish, the sleeves and the tiny polka dots just came together beautifully and I shot with my friend Andrea this time! She is so talented and I can’t wait to do some more cool shots with her. Check out her blog here. Wishing you all an awesome weekend!

This was one of the funniest shoots I have done in a long while and you’re probably wondering why, seeing as the photographs don’t depict any laughter or jubilance of any sort. Well, let me explain: My friend Sanchita told me about this lovely picturesque spot in London that would be perfect for my photographs, so we met up and headed straight for it. Once we got there, I began taking some photos for her and whilst we were capturing our blog pictures, there were so many funny stories to catch up on and between pretend struts and discussions of the tinder app (long story), we couldn’t even take our selves so seriously.

So after like half an hour, we swapped and Sanch began taking my photos and I was doing my best to channel Naomi Campbell (as best I could in sneakers). Anyway, so I had another outfit that I wanted to capture, and being a ‘live in the moment’ type of girl, I decided to try my hand at ‘discreetly’ stripping in public. Sanch was so embarrassed and was like “Nengi, I don’t condone this, I refuse to let me friend do this in public. Let’s go to Costa so that you can change comfortably.” I was laughing so hard and so was she, albeit in a more embarrassed way. I explained that Costa was too far and this location was prime.

It was such a fumble and I’m sure I am on a street CCTV camera somewhere in London. I treasure such moments, because they will be remembered for a long time and they are the type of occurrences that make blogging sessions fun.

Remember here, when I talked about my colour preference for Autumn/Winter?! Well it seems that I have stuck to my guns with my overload of camel on Runway Ribbons. It’s such a complimentary colour and I must say it has been my go-to this season. See herehere, here and here. What was your colour of the season?

P.S I can’t believe 2014 is almost over! Looking forward to the new year as I have a few goals for my self and for this blog in particular! Watch this space.

Hey Ribbons!
So last night I went for the Chime For Change concert at Twickenham Stadium with two of my really good friends Fisayo and Adaeze. I hadn’t seen Adaeze in a very long time, so it was lovely that she came all the way from Geneva just for this concert. I listened to the weather man the night before and was pleased with what he had to say. Sun, sun, sun! Chime  For Change is a “new global campaign to raise funds and awareness for girls’ and women’s empowerment”. The concert was funded by Gucci and the outcome was amazing. I got to see artists such as Jennifer Lopez, John Legend, Mary J. Blige and Beyonce. Not only were those performing spectacular, but I was also fortunate to see actors and actresses who had come together to donate and spread the cause. I saw celebrities such as Blake Lively, Zoe Saldana, Ryan Reynolds, Madonna, Salma Hayek and James Franco. It was amazing to see so much talent in one room!
I particularly loved the video interludes from around the world with girls and women of all ages telling their stories. It was extremely humbling, to watch. It has given me so much more perspective on life and I have never been prouder to be a woman. As Maya Angelou said “You make me proud to spell my name, W-O-M-A-N.” Please donate to any of the causes you can, here is a link

Hope you all had as fabulous a weekend as I had, and if wasn’t fabulous, don’t stop smiling! Just know that it will be good in the end, and if it’s not good… It’s not the end! 😉
